Continuing Professional Development can help a professional keep your skills up to date and prepare you for greater responsibilities. It can boost your confidence, strengthen your professional credibility and help you become more creative in tackling new challenges. During my work placement at Little Frogs Pre school, the organisation followed various policies and procedures which were specific to promoting and identifying gaps in improvement. An example of a policy which they followed was the ‘Child collection policy’ which is A child departing from the centre must be given into the care of a parent or guardian.

If a parent or guardian is not available, it must be established that a person is authorised in writing by a guardian to collect the child from the centre. A child will not be released to a person 16 years or younger from the centre. http://www.occasionalchildcare.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=18:collection-of-children-policy&catid=6:centre-policies&Itemid=25 This is the procedure. It is put in place to make certain that the serice users are kept safe and are proteted. It also expores that actions which will need to be taken if a child is not collected.

Other regulating bodies will become involved e.g crisis care and the authorites in order to make the best decision about the childs care, Working in a multidisaplinary team. It is very important that staff continuing developing and learning as it identifies where certain gaps and in capabilities which you may have. It also helps people focus on learning from experiences, reflective learning and review. CDP also identifies further developmental needs which the staff may have and so therefore they are able to improve on this and therefore direct their organisation or setting in order to promote better well-being for service users.
